Features: Order Types

Amigo Pos 8 includes the following order types, each of which can be customized to suit any environment. The settings for each order type can be accessed in back office/settings/main settings/order types


Amigo Pos includes a comprehensive list of features that are ideally suited for table service environments. From server banking to guest assignment, most features can be enabled by checking a single box in the back office order type settings. The drag & drop seating chart designer will enable you to create new floor plans in minutes. Amigo Point Of Sale includes an image creation and editing utility and custom images may be imported from any 3rd party drawing application such as Microsoft® Paint or Smartdraw®.

Each table definition includes a default number of guests, which may be changed on a per-order basis.

After selecting the table, the Guests button at the bottom of the order entry screen shows the table's default number of guests. This value is changed by pressing the Guests button and selecting the number of guests.

Menu items can be entered by guest so that the prep staff is aware of each patron's order. In addition, this allows for easy ticket splitting by selecting the SPLIT BY GUEST method on the Split Ticket screen.

Amigo Pos includes a comprehensive list of features that are ideally suited for bar and nightclub environments, including preauthorized bar tabs with limits. The order entry screen remains open after each ticket is tendered to speed orders. Refer to the common order type settings article for a list of customizable features, such as auto receipt printing and default menu to invoke when the order type is selected.

The CASH, CREDIT and SETTLE buttons at the bottom left of the order entry screen are used to tender the ticket immediately so that the active screen ticket is cleared and the next order can be started. The tender CASH button can be further enhanced by bypassing the ticket settlement screen so that the screen ticket is cleared and the cash drawer opens immediately and Amigo Point Of Sale is ready for the next order.

Through the use of the favorites button, bartenders can select from a few drink presets, each of which can replace an entire category of drinks, allowing for extremely fast order entry in a fast paced environments. Users of terminals where servers enter food orders use the normal bar menu so that prep tickets are generated at the bar for drink orders. With the use of the Remote Video Display application, bar owners may choose to install an inexpensive UMPC at the bar to act as a remote display, elminating the need for prep tickets.

In the default database configuration, the bar order method is configured to bypass the table selection screen by default. Refer to the order types configuration section in the help manual to enable this feature.

Amigo Pos includes a comprehensive list of features that are ideally suited for pizza delivery environments. From the integrated callerid interface to optional web ordering interface, delivery orders can be entered in seconds. Refer to the common order type settings article for a list of customizable features, such as label printing and default menu to invoke when the order type is selected.

All customers are tracked by phone number. In addition, a customer can have multiple phone numbers; phone extensions are also supported. Each phone number is assigned a location so that a single customer can order from home, work or cell phone.

Each location is assigned a delivery zone so that the delivery charge is applied automatically each time an order is placed. Delivery charges may be set to non-taxable for locations where delivery charge is not taxed. Similar to the Carry Out order method, a container charge can be added to each order item on a per-item basis.

A driver routing screen is used to consolidate orders on a single trip ticket and settle the tickets at once when the driver returns.

When used for fast food, the order entry screen can remain open after each order is tendered to speed orders. Refer to the common order type settings for a list of customizable features for each order type, such as auto receipt printing and default menu to invoke when the order type is selected.

Amigo Pos includes a retail module for environments where retail (barcoded), bulk and deli items are sold. When the order entry screen is switched to retail mode by pressing the retail button, the screen ticket triples in width and a set of RETAIL SHORTCUTS is displayed on the left side of the screen.

When an item does not scan correctly due to a damaged or obscured barcode, press the LOOKUP button to enter the item SKU. The entire SKU does not have to be entered; enter the leading digits until the correct item is displayed.

Retail items can also be tracked by PLU. This is useful for items that do not have a barcode, such as a self-serve beverage. Press the blue PLU button, enter the PLU and press the blue CONTINUE button to add the item to the screen ticket.

Occasionally, a one-time price change may need to be performed. To change the price of an item, select the order item and press the blue PRICE CHANGE button, enter the new price and press the FINISHED button to update the price.

Open the menu item editor in back office to edit retail items. Filter the list by selecting the RETAIL menu category and select the item on the left to display the item properties in the menu item editor. The SKU, PLU, Deli Barocode PLU, Price Per Weight and other fields are available under the PRICING tab.

When adding items that are sold by weight, the customer typically brings the unweighed bagged item to the checkout terminal. The cashier places the item on the scale and either presses the item button or enters the item PLU, which then triggers the scale interface screen to appear, as shown below.

When using an external scale that is not connected directly to the terminal, the weight may be entered manually by toggling the SCALE button to reveal the on-screen keypad. Enter the item weight and press the green CONTINUE button to add the item to the screen ticket.

When deli items such as meat are sold, the barcode is generated at the time of purchase and contains both the item PLU and price. Amigo Point Of Sale uses this information lookup the item and add it to the ticket, as well as for track item sales on back office reports.

Amigo Pos includes a comprehensive list of features that are ideally suited for restaurants where customer pickup orders are processed. Similar to the Delivery order type, the user is prompted to enter the customer phone number when starting a Pickup order.

Many restaurants impose a container charge on pickup orders where the container cost is added automatically as each item is entered on the screen ticket. This feature can be activated in the Order Types Configuration section in back office.

Carry out orders differ from customer pickup orders in that that customer phone number is not entered when the order is processed. The order is generally placed in person, whereas a pickup order is placed by phone. 

The order entry screen can remain open after each ticket is tendered to speed orders. When Amigo Pos is used exclusively to process fast food orders, enable the Quick Serve and Carry Out order methods. The order type can be changed on the order entry screen so that the user never closes the order entry screen when entering orders in a fast-paced setting. Refer to the common order type settings topic for a list of customizable features, such as auto receipt printing and default menu to invoke when the order type is selected.
