Important! Users of Arabic, Chinese, Greek, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Serbian and other languages that require non-standard fonts should use a Star Micronics or compatible thermal printer that is capable of interpreting Star's Line Mode command set to print customer receipts. In addition, you must ensure that the printer contains a pre-installed code page that matches your requirements.
The inexpensive Star TSP100 futurePRNT is an ideal printer for printing customer receipts and prep tickets since all character sets are included and is readily available in most areas.
In order to provide maximum printing speed, Amigo Pos 7uses the Star Line (and/or ESC/POS for some languages) command set to send instructions directly to the printer, bypassing the Windows printer driver. This results in speeds of up to 50 times faster than applications that use Windows drivers.

Several compatible printers also ship with additional code pages that may be used for your language, but complex languages such as Chinese are available on limited models and must be special ordered on some printers (such as the Epson TM-T88). If you are unsure, contact the vendor or manufacturer to receive the printer's specifications listing the available code pages.

Amigo Pos 7includes the ability to display button text in your native language. To use a foreign language, open the Translations screen in Back Office > Configuration >, select your language from the list and restart Amigo Pos. The language selector is also available from the Windows start menu by clicking All Programs > Amigo Pos > Languages.
If your language is listed with an asterisk, you must also ensure that the pos station is configured to use the language properly. This step is required for the following languages: Arabic, Chinese Greek, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Serbian and other languages that require non-standard fonts. Note that Arabic text is not aligned right-to-left on most buttons or back office grids. Open the Regional and Language Options applet in the MS Windows Control Panel and click on the Advanced tab. Adjust the settings as required and REBOOT the pos station.
For example, Greek language users will use the following settings in Windows 7:

Most English phrases are machine translated and contain errors. You may edit each phrase to suit your needs. In addition, you may define a custom language for languages that are not listed.

After the language settings are configured correctly and the machine has been rebooted, the default printer text settings should be modified to match your local preferences. In the example shown above, the text for Server, Table, Guests, Total Amount, Top Line Text and Bottom Line Text have been edited in Back Office > Configuration > Peripherals >by selecting Receipt Printer from the drop-down list. Edit the tax name to correspond to your tax rates (enter any mandatory tax messages by entering text for the top or bottom line values described above). In addition, the Order Type description has been modified in Back Office > Configuration > Main Settings. After editing the default text, the database must be synchronized before printing the order.
